What’s the difference between Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro?
Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro are both suitable for editing a video. Which one you will use depends on the project you are working on.
- Adobe After Effects – This is a software for composing shapes, titles, 2D animations and special effects. You can also create text, images, and shapes in Adobe Premiere Pro, but it’s a lot easier if you do it in After Effects.
- Adobe Premiere Pro – This is a video editing program whose main feature is to edit videos together. Whether it’s a music video, a documentary or an interview, Premiere Pro is everything you need. This program also has many other functions such as audio editing, adding text and adding effects.
The Premiere Pro timeline is much better than Adobe After Effects for video or audio editing. Many video projects require the use of Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro.

1. Apple MacBook Pro – Best Mac for After Effects
If you are a person who is looking to get a premium machine for After Effects, then there are many reasons to choose Apple’s MacBook Pro. Of course, it is an Apple product and it is expensive without any doubt, but If you have a high budget, then It would be silly to ignore this wonderful laptop. On the other hand, If you have a limited budget, then I would definitely suggest you take a look at any other laptop from this list as it might be perfect for your budget.
Okay, now let’s talk about the laptop itself now.
This is a late 2018 MacBook Pro which comes with a 13.3-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2560×1600. The colors are crisp and the display is suitable for outdoor usage as well. As usual, the build quality of this Apple product is great which is very durable. Along with the beautiful display, you are also going to get the Touch Bar feature which might not be very useful for many programs but it could be surely useful to unlock the device via Touch ID and make payments online securely.
Tip: There is also a non-touch bar model of this laptop, you can choose that if you don’t use Touch Bar frequently. You can find the model here.
The laptop comes with 8GB LPDDR3 memory and 256GB SSD. As you may already know, the SSD will surely perform way faster than traditional Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and the 8GB RAM is going to help you perform multi-tasking easily.
When it comes processor (CPU), you’ll be getting 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 8th Gen Processor which does a really good job at the performance department. The Geekbench score of this processor for a single core is 4534 while it scores 15705 in multi-core. There is a significant improvement in multi-core from its previous model i.e 8826. This MacBook Pro comes with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 which can help you to play lightweight games and edit some video editing.
The laptop weighs only 3 lbs (1.36 kg) which is super lightweight and it won’t be hard to travel with. You’ll get a smooth butterfly keyboard and a large trackpad on this laptop which is quite impressive. There are four Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports offered on this machine which is great but the lack of USB 2.0’s might cause some serious issues for many people.
Finally, battery life.
While using it for your professional task, you can expect around 5-6 hours of battery life and while doing less demanding tasks such as Browsing, Streaming, etc, you can expect up to 10 hours which is outstanding in my opinion.

2. Dell XPS 15 – Best UltraBook For Adobe Premiere Pro
I don’t think I need to give you an introduction to one of the most successful laptop series from Dell. This is the latest model of Dell XPS 15 which was released in late 2018 and I have to say this is one of the best laptops for Sketchup you can get hands-on right now.
The laptop comes with a 15.6-inch full HD display and I have to admit that this is the best display on this entire list. It has very few bezels and it is very sexy and elegant to look at.
The XPS 15 comes with 512GB SSD storage and 16GB DDR4 RAM. The processor offered by Dell on this machine is quite powerful i.e Intel Core i7-8750H. The laptop is equipped with a GTX 1050Ti graphics card which can play most of the games at moderate to high settings at reasonable frame rates per second.
The beauty of carbon fiber is even lighter than last year’s model, weighing only 1.9 kg, making it a lightweight and portable war machine ideal for After Effect or Premiere Pro.
The laptop weighs 4.4 pounds (approx. 2kg) which might be lightweight for some people and heavy for some others. You have to decide that. In my personal opinion, I would say it is fairly portable.
The battery life on this XPS 15 is quite satisfactory. You can get a little over 6 hours for using it for non-gaming purposes and for gaming and other heavy tasks, you can get around 2 hours which is pretty decent.

Both a powerful notebook and a portable tablet, the Surface Book 2 is the most versatile notebook you can use for Adobe After Effects. It comes with a powerful 8th generation Core i7 processor and Nvidia GTX 1060, as well as an incredibly rich 3240 x 2160 display.
The battery test lasted more than 12 hours, so you can edit all day without fear. If the 15-inch version is too big or too expensive for you, there is also a 13.5-inch option, but it comes down to integrated graphics or GTX 1050.
Advantages: Detachable screen; Super experience with the stylus; Long battery life;
Disadvantages: Very expensive; No Thunderbolt port 3;
Key Specifications: 15-inch screen, 3240 x 2160; Intel Core i7-8650U CPU; GPU Nvidia GTX 1060

By editing with Adobe Premiere Pro, it is possible to completely get rid of Apple and buy a Windows computer at a fraction of the price (sorry, Linux users, the Adobe Creative Cloud will not work for you).
Adobe is bad at optimizing its software for Windows, and Final Cut Pro is very well optimized, so to achieve performance levels similar to those of Apple computers above, you will need faster hardware. The good news is that prices are cheaper for Windows machines.
For a choice of prices, the Lenovo Yoga 720 is a great choice. You get an Intel dual-core i5 processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, a 256GB SSD and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card.
Remember that it is a low budget machine. The GPU and SSD will help you with some editing tasks, but the i5 and 8GB RAM processor might limit you.
If you can afford it, upgrade to the 15 inches 730 to a 4-core Intel i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a 4K Ultra HD display.
If you’re still struggling with performance issues, have you thought about offline video editing? This is a great way to edit larger files on low-power machines.
Advantages: 2 in 1 design; Long life of the battery; Bright display; High performance
Disadvantages: Simple design
Key specifications: 15.6-inch screen, 1920 x 1080 (or 4K); Core i7-7700HQ CPU, GPU Nvidia GTX 1050; 2 kg

5. Acer Nitro 5
The Acer Nitro 5 will cost you more than its cousin Aspire E 15, but it will offer you more too, as this is a gaming model, therefore better for streaming too.
The laptop comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display which is decent for its pricing. The build quality is also decent in its price range and there is nothing much to complain about. The Nitro 5 comes with the Intel Core i5-8300H processor, which is a bit better than what you can find in E15. The 8GB DDR4 RAM is pretty good for multi-tasking, and for storage, you’ll be getting 256GB SSD.
The thing that makes it stand out is the GPU i.e GTX 1050TI 4GB. At this price range, this is more than decent, Dell G5 Gaming has the same one, and it costs almost $300 more. Nitro 5 also has a great looking keyboard, with highlighted WASD and error keys. Travel distance is 1.6mm and feels perfect. The keyboard is backlit and looks really good.
One thing I personally didn’t like about this laptop is its weight i.e 6 lbs (2.7 kg). It is quite heavy and If you travel a lot with your laptop on a regular basis, then this might cause some issues in your journey. You have to keep this mind If you are going for this laptop.
The battery life on this laptop is around 3-4 hours for moderate usage which isn’t very great neither it is too bad. You may need to charge it twice a day If you are planning to use it continuously.
Overall, I’m impressed with the value this laptop provides and I have to say this is one the top laptop for after effects anyone can get right now. It is priced reasonably well at just $700 which I guess is affordable for many people.
Choosing the “best laptop for After Effects or Premiere Pro” would not be viable. It all depends on your own preferences combined with your use which determines the machine best suited to your routine.
